Extended application deadline

We are aware this is a busy time for NHS Wales. To give colleagues and partners across the NHS more time to complete their applications, we have extended the submission deadline to 27 October.

The Cancer Innovation and Improvement Programme is a collaboration between the Wales Cancer Network, the Bevan Commission and the innovation leads/partners across Wales.

We are interested in supporting projects that can make a positive impact and long lasting change in Wales through the adoption and spread of innovation and sustainable improvement. Supported project will be focused on the initial part of the cancer pathway up to and including diagnosis.

  • Applications are welcomed from community, primary and secondary care teams, and especially welcomed as partnerships across sectors and areas.

  • The application will be team-based and partner organisations may include Higher Education Institutions, Social Care Wales, Local Authorities, industry partners and 3rd sector.

  • The lead applicant must be an NHS employee and applying in that capacity with approval from their line manager. Applications are welcomed from all people at any career level and setting.

Important information and key dates​

The call for applications are open on 20 September 2021 and closing on 27 October 2021 (11.59pm).  A multipartner panel will decide on which projects to support by the 10th of November 2021. The Cancer Innovation and Improvement Programme will start on the 29th of November with a one week Intensive Learning Week followed by a number of learning opportunities and Group Days to help you stay on track. The team at the Bevan Commission and Innovation partners will work with you and provide 1-2-1 and group support. 

There are a few steps to take before submission including talking to your line manager, work closely with your Health Board Innovation Lead, and identify your Executive Sponsor.
